All he is talking about is how happy, how wonderful his life in Canada and how safe is Canada. I dare if it were like what he said.
He talks about Avril Lavigne all the day, and pick up 16 years old girls who he have never known in the concert. Only 5 years old kid can believe what you said is true.

We all know North American people are so sensitive on how to protect under age people. Maybe Departure bay dreams to do that, be careful this kind of person, maybe he is sexual offender!!!

I asked my friend in Canada, they don?t like Avril Lavigne, and she is not such popular at all. Only teenagers like Avril Lavigne. She is so American, why you like those kind of celebrity!!!Crazy Departure bay!

Street Musician license? You are kidding me? Do all Canadian beggar are under licensed? Is there a license called street musician license? You tried to make people believe you are professional or what? We all know for beggars, they can just go to the busy place and ask for changes, do they need license? Come on!

Departure bay, you are not PR, you should check your work permit, it doesn?t say you are allowed to be a street musician, you will be deported! It?s violated CIC rules.

HEY Anonymous...who pissed in your Corn Flakes this morning?
Departure Bay is a good guy who is happy with his life. Let him be happy. So what if he talks about Avril Lavigne. He could be obsessed with Anne Murray and he would still be OK.
YES, you need a license to be a street performer. I am sure DP will donate his money to a good cause if it is wrong for him to work.

If you don´t like DP, don´t read his posts.
Maybe you are jealous...maybe your life sucks and you can´t see the good in things.
Chill out.
Why don´t you post some happy thoughts for us. Enlighten us with your wisdom!

knowing exactly where he lives, knowing exactly what is required to be a street busker (not a begger), knowing appoximately how old he is, knowing what kind of job he has, and having read months and months of his posting... I have absolutely no problem accepting or believing what he writes.

so 33.71, feel free to pass over his postings. Nobody is forcing you to read them. He is not offending anyone. Some of us consider DB a breath of crazy and fresh air around here.

but do you need a license to perform on the street? I have never seen any people show their license, I don´t think there are law enforcement office check that.
do you think I will get tickets if I don´t have license?

depends where you are performing. some areas are consider private property (like bus stations). In Vancouver, transit auditions buskers and then issues licenses for specific locations. Same with places like Granville Island. These buskers are often professional musicians who are filling in their work schedules. They generally declare their income and pay taxes.

If you are standing on a street corner with your guitar case open... you may or may not get hassled from by-law inforcement. depends if there is a complaint.

same applies to hot dog stands etc.

panhandling is another subject all together. there are laws around hassling people and sitting on sidewalks. enforcement is the biggest problem. Not enough police out there. Panhandlers are generally left alone unless they are intimidating, following you, walking up to car windows etc.
