Subject: HELP please - PR application questions |

Hi Gurus,
I am planning to apply for the canadian PR under federal skilled worker category ( I am in US right now). I have a few questions and am hoping that some of you might be able to help me with those:
1. Do I have to submit the FBI report with the initial application or will they ask for it later.
2. I am an Indian citizen. So do I have to submit a police report from India as well? If yes, how do I get that?
3. I don´t have my birth certificate and I don´t know how to get that from India. As anyone faced a similar situation?
-thanks

(in reply to: HELP please - PR application questions) 1. No, FBI is not needed now. It will be asked by CIC at a later stage. Takes about 4-6 weeks to get one and CIC provides details on how to get these when they ask for them.
2. Write to a local Indian Consulate for Police Certf. from India. There are several in the US - so contact the one that serves your state. It takes about 4-6 weeks for that. You will be asked for it at a later stage too, so you donot need it at time of filing the case.
3. Your 10th Board Certf. / Passport is same as your Birth Certf. You donot need to submit Birth Certf. with your application - most of applicants from India, incl. myself applied without one and CIC never asked for any.
Hope it helps.

(in reply to: HELP please - PR application questions) Hey--I just saw your post, and unfortunately, if you are applying from the US, you DO need to submit your FBI fingerprints with your application, as well as a police certificate from every country you have lived in for 6 months or more (since 18). There has been some confusion over this because the rules recently changed; however, the current info on the CIC site does state that the fingerprints must be submitted with your app. Currently it takes 10-12 weeks to get them back from the FBI, so be sure to request them to be expidited (write a deadline on the outside of your envelope, as well as in your cover letter inside). Good luck!
