Hey, I think you are jumping way ahead of me.. and assuming I get the job or something... right now Im only interested in going to the interview.. This could be an excellent opportunity for me to get to the states.. even if the H1b program is filled.. there always next year.. but now want to know if a US company wants me to come visit thier facility... can I get a B1 visa after only being in canada for 2 months..... or is the time here irrelevant.. the B1 visa is a business visa.. not tourist.. is it easy or hard to get.. also this not caregiver position.. would be a nursing position.

Lisa

I need some help here.... Ok I landed in Canada 2 months ago on work visa from China... on the caregiver program.. if anyone familier with that program.. I am a nurse and taking care of a family of four children... I like it here.. but a friend of my sister in the states refered me over to an assisted care facility in north carolina , USA and they are interested in me working there.. possibly.. they would provide me with the H1b visa if hired and any other relocation needs... they want to interview me and fly me to the states to see the faciliy..

They provide me with an itinerary and letter of intent to bring me to the states for an interview . it is a 3 days in US...visit the facility and meeting with CEO and a few others.. this also very good money..about 4 times what i make now in canada..

Will I have a problem getting a B1 visa? how quickly can I get it.. how does it differ any in qualifications to getting a B2 visa..? will the US embassy question anything and deny me based on fact I only been here 2 months.. I sure dont want to pass up this opportunity.. what else should I take for my interview? any help please.. .. I would much rather be in the US living and working than canada...this a great opportunity..

Lisa

Call US embassy but do not tell them you are going for interview. I do not think they will give you B1/B2 but you can try. IMHO I do not think they will give you H1B visa ether they have a lot of caregivers in US?

I believe I read the news in the INS website that their H1B visa quota for year 2006 has been reached.
I don?t know whether you still could fill in for 2006 but you could try for 2007.
Hey, That?s true the cap has been reached for 2006.

Here is the link for the news: http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/newsrels/H-1Bcap_12Aug05.pdf

Sorry to give you bad news.

Regards
Eric

B1/B2 does not make a big difference to the visa officers, they treat them the same. so, prepare for the visa interview and you should be done.......
