Subject: Is this even a legal procedure? |

Is it even legal for me to go into Canada as a ´visitor´, with a ´visitor record´ and apply for spousal family sponsorship immigration (coming from the USA to Canada) while WITHIN Canada?
I ask because I just read on CIC that "Normally, you are not allowed to change your status once you are in Canada. For example, a tourist cannot accept a job or become a student." Does that mean I cannot go from being a ´visitor´ to someone applying for PR while inside Canada? I would hate to have to apply for spousal family sponsorship from outside of Canada and not be able to see my wife while documents pend.
PS.. How long is the process for spousal family class sponsorship outside of Canada? Rather how long till you receive ´approval in principle´?
Thanks!

possible (in reply to: Is this even a legal procedure?) Sure it is. You might need some legal advise but your plan could be based on following:
You did not know it at the time.
Good luck
