I think I fell into a discrepancy between an application for study permit and for permanent residence.

On June 2004, I applied for a study permit at the embassy in Mexico city as I was going as a exchanged student to Canada from my university.
When I was in university, I was dating someone for a couple of years. We made the huge mistake of not being cautious and well... She got pregnant one day. We never got married or lived together though, but my name is on the child?s birth certificate.

When I filled out the application for study permit, I never thought of putting the child down on the SPOUSE OR COMMON-LAW AND CHILDREN section because he doesnt live with me.

This changed when I met someone I fell in love with while in Canada. She came to Mexico where we got married a couple of months ago.
Needless to say, now I have to include this child on the PR application, get him examined, etc.

Oh, I forgot to say that the study permit got rejected because I did not submit the medical results. I did not do this because I found out I would not need a study permit if I was going for six months or less. I was only going for four months. I did not have any trouble going through customs in Vancouver.

My questions are:
What kind of trouble will this contradiction get me into?
Do I need to get him a passport even when he is not accompanying me?
Will my study permit refusal be another obstacle?

friend, you need to give people more time to respond. you posted your question 90 minutes after the last one.

we are not immigration officers here. you are facing a situation will not too many choices. you may be forced to explain it to CIC exactly the way you have explained it to us, and then take your chances.

Complete the paper work as request and include an explanation to immigration. A similar explanation as above should be fine. In this case I think they might wonder why you did not include the child, especially if you decide that on the PR application the child will be an accompanying dependant.

If the child is not an accompanying dependant on your PR your explanation above makes sense....The child will remain with his mother, when your were going for a short study period you did not include it because your son did not live with you.

Your son will need to complete the medical screen, however as he is a non-accompanying dependent you do not need travel documents.
