Subject: Best Calling card to India (from Canada/US)
I think I shouldn´t be asking this question, but it is regarding Indian immigrants in Canada.

Which is the best calling card for India from Canada/US?

I am finding the Indigo card quite good for calling back home in Pondicherry. I am buying it for $4 even tho its saying $5 on front. I get from calling card booth in flea market in Pickering. Man behind counter is very helpful, I think he´s coming from Pakistan.

Yahoo messenger is the instant chat facility of Yahoo with the latest being the voice facility. You can talk, computer to computer, but you can´t use a landline for it, unlike Skype. However if both of you have computers at home, the only thing required is a headset and both of you a yahoo id (again free). I have been using it and the voice quality is as good or better than regular phone. However I should warn you that I have an internet speed of 31.2 Kbps and my friend in Canada has a broadband. In India too now I understand that there is broadband now with just Rs.375/- p.m and some initial expenses like Rs.1,000/- or so as installation charge. The advantage is that you are not incurring anymore telephone charges on dialling up to the ISP. You can download the latest version of Yahoo Messenger from http://ca.beta.messenger.yahoo.com/

You can try Skype too (I think it is Skype.com), but I am not able to vouch for its quality. When they had initially launched it, I had tried it out and the quality was no good, with voice breakages and time lags. But may be it has improved now. But there you can dial a landline while you will be using your computer and headset.

I use skype, and they´re great. I have dial up (yikes!) and it still works fine, although I think if I wanted to spring for something faster, it would work better. My folks use it to call overseas quite a bit, and with their quicker connections, they don´t have any problems at all (with dial up, I do sometimes get a bit of a lag, but nothing major--hey, it´s free after all!). I have only used skype computer to computer, but you can use it with landlines too (don´t know about cells) for very very cheap.

Hi, I´d like to know if you provide advertising on calling cards. If so, do you distribute the cards too? How much does it cost?
Thanks, John
