Subject: PLEASE HELP!!!!
Thank you for the reply, but its a outside sponsoring application, i dont reside in Canada with her as yet. I live in the Caribbean and i currently cant find a job as where i live unemployment is fairly hig, but is putting STUDENT in the OCCUPATION box for me going to affect application?? Reason is, i am married and i expected to work even if wife is not here, so would CIC think anything? Meanwhile i am doing some Non university courses, so for time STUDENT seems only option to put.

When assessing spousal application employment status is not an issue.

It might help your application if you can show that you are willing to take your future into you own hands and that you are trying make yourself for marketable for jobs either in your home country or in Canada. If you are unemployed due to circumstances beyond your control then you can?t be penalized for it.

Depending on the length of your relationship with your wife, and if you have not worked or are unwilling to make an effort to make a life for yourself in your country of birth the officer might take that as an indication that you got married in order to obtain PR status. Please do not worry about what I have just said, looking at what you have said logically I am just making an educated guess as to how an immigration officer may review the facts of your situation. I must say though that you are taking steps to improve your skills therefore, it does not seem like you are unwilling to work, and your lack of employment currently, should not be consider a negative be an immigration officer. If you have worked in the past, include that information with your application or in the interview.

If you have an interview one of the things you might want to talk with your wife about before the interview is what would you do if the application is not approved.

For my husband who is outside Canada our option if he is denied is to appeal the decision. If we fail at the appeal stage then we will move back to the Caribbean, although it hard finding work in our home country. We have a plan for Canada and one for the Caribbean. Our motto, everything in life happens for a reason, so whatever immigration decides is out of our hands, we present our situation/case truthfully, but if they don?t believe us we still love each other and out future life together is what?s important, not that we have to be together in Canada. It?s just that I have made my home in Canada with my family and friend and we would prefer to live here.

For better answers you might want to give some more details about your application and which visa office is processing your application.

You have known your wife for a while, and everything should work out okay. The assessment is up to the immigration officer and the amount of documentation/proof that you and your submitted with your application.

Do not worry about what they may or may not do, anything we think is just speculations and they can run you mad.

Take things one day at a time and continue loving each other.
