I am a U.S. citizen that plans on being married within the next month to my fiance who is a Canadian citizen. Does anyone know for sure if my married status bypasses the need to go through HRSDC for a Work Permit? If I have a job offer, does anyone know approx. how long the process with take considering I will be a spouse? I have to think that it is much faster than applying for permanent residency, right?

Check the NAFTA (in reply to: Work Permit and HRSDC) For temporay workers who apply under the NAFTA agreement (includes citizens from Mexico, USA and Canada) theres a list of professions excent from the HRSDC, you can check it out here (page 77, but the document has lots of handy information)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/manuals-guides/english/fw/fwe.pdf
from Mexico it suppose to take 28 working days, but processing times can be checked in
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/15-temp-workers.html
hope this helps.
