Subject: Going to Canada sposored applicant

I have been sponsore for my wife , we sent our applications (sponsorship & PR) from abroad and I got my Passport request about a week ago.
I sent it and I am waiting for my Passport to come back.

We are going to travel together to Canada on the first week of October.

I am going to bring about 5,000 U.S plus my credit cards , is it ok?
In my immigration guide doesn?t say anything about proof of funds at the port of entry , as a matter of fact , CIC never asked for any bank statment during the process.
By the way I have a job offer , from the company who?s willing to hire me as soon as I land in Canada.

Do I need to show any money at the port of entry?

My time line is this.

Sponsorship sent to Ontario December 7th 2004
Started processing it at CIC Dec 31st.
Sponsorship Approved Jan 15th 2005
File transfered to CIC Guatemala Jan 20th 2005
Started Processing my application Feb 4th 2005
Passport request Aug 9th 2005

Interview was waived

Andy, You can tak to your credit card issuer and tell them that you are immigrating. They will make arrangements so that you can use your established credit histopry with that bank/issuer. MC and Visa charge 3% transction charge if you use it abroad
