Subject: Do your homework guys
Been a while since I´ve on this forum and I´m always stunned by the fact that so many people ask so many questions having answers to be found all over the net.
Do your homework guys, start here :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html
and work your way up from there.
It is nice to help eachother and there´s nothing wrong with chitchatting about trivial things, but the basics of Canadian immigration are brought to you on a silver platter by Canada itself.
In other words....if you can´t even find out yourself how this whole process works....I wonder if you will succeed over there.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it had to come off my chest :)

I don´t agree with you John. MOst people come here because of the "Human Touch" which they can´t get on the internet. They get to talk to the people who are sailing in the same boat as they do. And trust me; what they say on the internet is much different from the ground realities.

Point well taken John. I agree with you that a lot of answers are already in the CIC website and other sites but sometimes actual experiences of people in the forum count the most. I can´t agree with what you said about one´s failure in Canada can be measured by his/her inability to find answers via internet. As Sumit said, this forum is not only for information gathering but also to satisfy the need for human interaction as well...specilly during those long tiring years of waiting. :)

I agree with Sumit. Sometimes you know the answer to something but you want to hear other people say it or you want to discuss it with others and get their opinion. I understand the process very well, but sometimes I need to come on here and say, "what do you think?"

Yes, yes and yes....I 100% agree, but I was talking about the basics. And I do believe that in a way we are all entrepreneurs and some entrepreneurial skills are mandatory in most of our cases.

Infact, I agree with both sides. While I think the interaction is important, you do get questions here that you would find the answers for on CIC website if you look. People oonly need to read.

However, if you are in the position to answer it, go ahead. I´ve seen ppl be rude about it, and really, it is not nice.

John, I have the same thoughts at time. Do what those who answer the questions do... look it up!!!! Google is my friend.

The tough questions are the ones where there are no answers. ´How much longer´. Those ones become a little much at times. How should we know???? So much depends on the way the application was prepared, time of year, embassy, etc. The other tough ones is ´what will CIC do?´ when it is clearly a legal situation. Most of us simply do not know and to be expected to offer legal advise is so dangerous when you consider what is at stake.

anyway... I think the personal interaction is the best part. It helps us not feel so alone.

Forums! usually........ infact in all cases are places where people share experiences and discussion takes place in more "informal" manner.

Correct me if I am wrong that there are thousands of forums and thousands of web sites and there is every likelihood that same information is available on websites (which is being discussed in forums), yet the same is sought/solicited/discussed etc on forums.

I totally agree with Sumit, that forums are more than 1+1=2 thingy, it has human touch involved in them, and believe me it counts! and counts a lot in a life.

Well...having my fourth glass of some exquisit red wine and having my earphones on listening to some great R&R I guess I´m a bit melancholic :)
It is nice to interact , you are all right ( still think you oughta know the basics though :) )

I have been reading postings on the forum for sometime, about two months. I usually don´t post questions on any forum, as most of my questions were already asked and answered. Yes, it does seem logical that if someone is interested in finding information then all they would need to do is spend the time and read for themselves.

This forum has a pretty good search option that if one uses it they will be able to find the information that they are looking for.

I usually read and respond if I know the answer. As Sharon say google is my friend. Whenever someone asks a question if you don´t have the answer then you have to do a google search. But remember that there are people out there who do not read English or French fluently and it might be difficult for them to navigate the information on CIC´s website.

My pet peeve is with people who ask for input, you provide an answer then they do not say thank you. Just say thank you, two little words.
