I´m a newcomer who just moved from US to Canada to meet my family. Recently I want to buy a computer (US$1600) from US, i wonder how much will the canadian customs charge me for shipping import tax approx?

depending on province, GST- 7% and provincial tax. (BC= 7%) and both amounts will be calculated on the Canadian amount...so $1,970. Are you sure you cannot do better from a Canadian retailer?

I now live in Ontario. So 15% on top of $1970 = $2265.5, right? I heard my friends that sometime they´ll charge up to 20% tax or up for computers, that true?
