Subject: Quebec and more?
My wife and I are planning to apply for PR in Quebec. I am from Scandinavia and will therefore send the application to the Paris Office. My wife and I went to graduate school in Ontario. We have been away from Canada since early 2004. Now however, we are interested in returning as PRs. Neither one of us have advanced knowledge of French (early beginners). But we are enrolling in a French course in September to not only boost our own skills but also the quality of our application.

Has anyone here applied via Paris? Your experiences.

What about the French. Will the final decison really boil down to how much you know of it? If we let them know that we will enroll in a French course and we aim to continue our learning of French after we arrive, how can that be a reason for them to reject us? Don´t they offer free French courses to new immigrants anyways? Obviously these courses are for people like us.

Thanks!
Ms

Dear Ms.

If u apply for Quebec u have to give TEF (they make it quite clear that its a francophone society so knowledge of French is a must).

Get some other views too.

And all the best....

Oh by the way, the very fact that u have got only one response till now and that happens to be mine (I had not seen your comment on my poster when I answered your query)..

....u can clearly see which poster is too boring to get a response !!

My suggestion is even if u r too bored with yr life don´t spread that boredom. We need encouraging and helpful replies here.

Hope u agree... and still good luck with your application

Ms-

I am applying for PR in Canada. IN the forms, nowhere does it ask for what you plan to do, in terms of language courses, after you arrive. I don´t think that will help. Their concern is what you know now.

Anyway, I am a French teacher, have a degree in French, lived and studied in France for my third year at the university, and succeeded in acquiring the DELF (similar to the TEF). As an American, English (American version) is my native language. The CIC still asked me to take the Test d´Evaluation du Francais.

I don´t know if that helps or not.
