Subject: Canadian Immigration means deceiving themselves?
  Hello!

I am a new immigrant and I.T. professional. I have more than 5 years experience on AS/400 and currently working as an Analyst/Programmer in my country.

I am confused about resigning from job because I know that job finding in Canada is very difficult task.

I met lot of people?s who resigned their jobs for going to Canada but after few months thy returned and said that there is no jobs in Canada except low level (workers) jobs.

Will you please tell me that:

1) Is there any time limit for getting a proper job or I have to ready for doing any odd job forever?

2) Why Canadian government giving immigration when they know very well that people?s will disturb when they did not find any proper job in Canada?

3) Why Canadian government deceiving the people?s only for receiving taxes? people?s are coming with hope that they will find a better place for living and also job point of view but after coming Canada they are not only disturbing themselves as well as their family also.

Please reply me.

Aqeel

Good questions Mr.Khan, but I think you may want to ask these to the State Heads. Most of the readers here are aspiring immigrants. This is my personal view though.

Good luck with finding GOOD answers.

Mr. Khan, if you are an educated and highly qualified person then you must not talk silly. If opthers could not get a job does not in any way mean that you will not get a job as well.... 99% of my friends in canada are doing great, they have jobs, some of them are working with government as well. Listen buddy, if you have something special to offer you will not be disappointed and secondly the job problems are every where. I live in America and there are no jobs here as well for those who dont wana get a job or who dont know how to launch a job. So dont worry, Trust in God, Trust in your skills and give it a try, God will help you if you are immigrating with good intentions.....God Bless !!!

Part of the whole purpose of the points system established by the CIC is to determine an aspiring immigrant´s ability to a) assimilate to some degree to Canadian society, and b) to ensure your ability to acquire a job upon arrival. Keep that in mind.

If you have any doubts about coming to Canada....do NOT come. You said you had a good job...why leave that? IF you are living well and have a job that gives you a good level of life, stay there.

The government paints a pretty picture and the picture of Canada is pretty BUT after you receive your visa, it is not up to the government to find you a job.
What happens is that the government says Canada needs certain kinds of skilled workers and in fact, Canada does. BUT the companies who hire these skilled workers seem to hire people with Canadian experience. I know it does not sound fair but if you were the boss of a company, you would probably want a worker who knew the Canadian system.
My wife is in this boat. She has 6 years experience n International Trade but most trade has been done in East/Central Europe and East Asia. She is well versed in all the codes and rules for those areas but has never done any trade with Canada. She knows she will have to go back to school to gain the knowledge about the Canadain system.

What you have to say to yourself is AM I READY TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL TO UPGRADE MY EDUCATION SO I CAN GET JOB THAT SUITS ME AND MY EMPLOYER or AM I READY TO START WORKING AT A JOB THAT IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I WANT BUT IS OK or WHY WOULD I LEAVE MY HOME COUNTRY AND A GREAT JOB TO LIVE IN CANADA WHERE MY FUTURE WILL BE A MYSTERY.

There are many things you must consider.
If you have an open mind and are willing to start at the bottom and work up, maybe moving to Canada is for you. If you expect to move to Canada and have the same level of life in your country right away (if you had a high level) you will be very disappointed.

Immigrating works well for some is a disater for others. What you need to do is THINK CAREFULLY and try to ask yourself WHY you want to move.

Think long and hard.
Good luck

I certainly agree with Rachunek. I arrived in Canada in Jan 05 as an Immigrant and by July 05, I had six job offers. I went for the best one and it is noway less good than the one I had in India. Having said that, I´d like to admit that I had 6 years of experience on my resume.

Canada is giving every PR applicant the chance to find work of their choice rather than looking at their education and skills and saying ´oh, sorry... we have too many IT workers so you cannot come and you cannot do anything else in this country to start a new life and support yourself -good bye.´

which choice would you prefer. Skill based immigration or ambition and ability based immigration?

There is a lot of talk about it being difficult to find a job in Canada, but I´d like to know a country in which it´s EASY. I mean, is it so different in other countries, that one DOESN´T need proper education and experience in order to get a good job? Or for that matter, that it doesn´t help to have personal contacts in order to land that great position? I´m in the US, and it is rare to get a good job without first knowing someone to get you a foot in the door, despite how well educated or experienced you might be. So I wonder how different it really is in the various countries we are coming from, and I would be interested to hear other stories. Is it easy in India, for example, to get a great job straight out of school, even if you don´t know anyone? Or do a few years experience guarantee you successful future career moves in China, or Mexico? I don´t know, but I´d like to hear your experiences. Best of luck to all!

I do fully agree with rachenuk and sharon.Aqeel, do not be a crybaby. It is you who have to make a call on what to do in life, rather than blaming the system. if you feel some problems are there, then do not immigrate. On contrary, if you feel that your life or earnings here will be better in canada than the menial job which you are doing in the country then you can migrate.
Also its more or less same in US also regarding jobs. You need contact to get a foot in the door. My friend recently finished his ph.d in USA in high demand area of one of the experimental sciences in top 15 schools, yet he could not find a job after his graduation, because his professor did not have any contacts.
So you have to figure out what is better for you than blaming system or other people..hope it helps.

The more of these type posts I read the more I´m starting to realize there are some people who believe the moment they land in Canada everything is going to fall in their laps.

I wish everything in life were that easy. There are a lot of highly skilled Canadians who don´t find work in their field right away.
