Hey Guys, does anybody know that canadian Consulate in Detroit issues visitor visas to Visitor in America. I mean a national of any other country comes to USA and then wants to apply for a visit visa to canada. Do they accept such applications or tell applicants to apply from their home country. I know they give visitor visas to students or people with H-1 (work visa) in USA but i am not sure if they accept visa applications from visitors as well. A genuine advice will be highly appreciated.

if you are a visitor to a country, you have to apply for a visitor´s visa from where you are a resident of. the canadian embassy in detroit cannot issue you one.

Last year my parents were visiting me here in USA from India. I applied for their canadian visitor visa in New York City and got it without any problems. When the issuing officer asked why they didnt apply in India, I simply said there is no consulate in Bombay (where my parents live) and he acknowledged and issued them visitor visa with no further questions. My parents didnt have to come to the embassy even...I got it done for them with just the required forms, photos and the passports.

Thank you Witchking.....my query is satisfied.......this is all i wanted to know. That means there is no such rule that a visitor to USA cant apply for a visitor visa to Canada other than his/her home country.
