Subject: What comes around, goes around
I got a call from the director of our agency this morning. She is a member of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants, has access to a network of information. There is an immigration officer in Buffalo who has many complaints and appeals against her, due to her issuing unwarranted refusals on family class applications. There is a panel of consultants who are starting a collective movement to have some action brought against this officer, and she is going to join them.

She called to tell me because this is the same officer who also refused OUR conjugal application earlier this year. Our refusal was completely unjust, we had all the ´proof´ in the world to substantiate our relationship, and she really had no good reason to turn us down, especially without even the opportunity of an interview. It´s been very hard to accept and we felt very wronged. But, we accepted it and are now married and starting from scratch with a spousal application.

It´s just good to know that something might actually be done about this officer. It will mean nothing for us, with our past or present application, but if it will prevent her from treating future couples unfairly, that is enough gratification for me. I wouldn´t wish that feeling on anyone.

For the first time in 3 months, I actually feel a sense of closure.
