| Subject: Work permit extension along with PR? |

Hi,
I am in Canada since last 1 year and had applied for work-permit Extension in June.I have also applied for PR in Feb 2005.Whenever I am calling the their helpline(1-888-242-2100), they tell me that applciation has been picked up but no decision ahs been made on issuing extension of my work-permit, and they´re still reviewing it.
Can you please tell me whether my PR aplication would have any iompact on my work-permit extension ? Or these are 2 different things ? Would extension process take longer time if I have applied for PR as well ?

They are totally seperated. Don´t worry. I have done before with the same situation as yours. YOu will get your renewal work permit soon.

I got my work permit issued with the PR application in progress. It took Buffalo about 2.5 months to do that though.

It took me 4 months for the extension. I was an in canada applicant on work permit. Applied for my extension while my PR application was in process. The CIC transferred my file to local CIC and took 4 months in total till i get got my extension. For sure, PR will not affect your work extension as long as all the details you submitted with the PR and work extension forms do not contradict. The CIC need to very whether you still hold the job and they may call your employer to verify. Make sure you inform your employer that they may expect a call from the CIC.

I have applied for work-permit extension through company lawyer and have submitted all the updated docs then why would they need to verify taht ?..Even if they do my employer would obviously say yes as I am still working for that.But again that would depend whom they call in case of verification?

Since you guys are in-canada, did you also get a stamp on the passport for re-entry if you leave canada in case? did you submit photographs? I am confused about item F about photographs, which says, "required only if you apply for extension of your temporary resident permit". Please help
