Subject: Stopping the PR processing? |

My Japanese wife and I submited all our stuff to Mississauga and they forwarded things to Manilla after I was approved as the sponsor. After a little vacation in Canada recently, we came to the conclusion that we need to save more money before going to Canada and want to stay here in Japan for a couple more years.
I don´t want to have to pay taxes in Canada while working here. Presently we are both residents of Japan and the tax rate is a LOT lower here. So, we can save money, go to Canada in a couple of years and put a larger down payment on a house.
Is my best bet to stop the paperwork or am I missing something else?
Thank you kindly.
Mike

get pr (in reply to: Stopping the PR processing?) get PR, you can stay outside Canada for 3 years, then go back to Canada.

will we have to pay taxes? (in reply to: Stopping the PR processing?) Hi rt
Will I have to pretend that my wife and I are not residents of Canada until the time that we move to Canada even though she will have her permanent residency?
Are they that thorough in checking things?
Thanks

(in reply to: Stopping the PR processing?) I think if you are not landed you do not have to pay taxes

Time limit on landing (in reply to: Stopping the PR processing?) If we don´t go to Canada, then we will not have to worry about paying taxes. And my wife won´t have her permanent residency if we don´t get in before the deadline expires.
Which probably means we will have to reapply, I guess.
Can we put off entering Canada somehow?
