Subject: New Orleans
I know this is not the forum to discuss.. but the pictures are heart breaking.

There are people with no food and water - why don´t they air drop them? It works to help people in 3rd world countries. When necessary items cannot reach then - food, water, medicine and essential supply are air dropped.

There has got to be enough helicopters to do that.. again I´m sorry to post it here but I hope someone with voice to reach where it should help the people there...

they should stop looters first, this is like Baghdad, instead of New Orleans.

starwars... I saw a newspiece last night. the roads are blocked. the water is too shallow and dangerous for boats. (power lines etc). there is no dry land to drop things in some cases. the water levels are still rising.

I just got a CNN newsbreak on my email saying "- FEMA suspends boat rescue operations in New Orleans because of dangers to rescuers, officials say."

it is a huge operation. they are trying to evacuate 25,000 people out of one location by bus, there are hospitals that need to be emptied. There are only so many buses, so many helecopters... and then there are stupid people that think they are helping the situation by shooting at those who come to help!

as useless as we may feel at this moment for not being able to help those people...we may consider pausing for a moment and say a little prayer for the victims, the rescuers, the doctors, the volunteers, the donors, the government branch, etc...let us not underestimate the power of prayers... =)

I agree with you Joe05.

This may be an immigration forum, however we cannot ignore life around us.

I request everyone reading this forum to take a minute to pray for those less fortunate ones who are stranded. Let there by hope for them.

There is no terrorist operating in Iraq departure bay. Do you really believe that?
It?s the biggest lie in the history of the world.
Iraqis are defending their country against strangers.
All what happened in Iraq was because of OIL and SOME STUPID POLITICANS.
What happened in Iraq happened in New Orleans by different hands,
The strongest hands at all.The US Military armed forces are destroying cities on their people?s heads in the name of terrorism.
Don?t you believe in equity of heaven?

dear Iraqi... I am not going to suggest you are wrong, but I will suggest you see the world through eyes that only look in one direction. About oil... probably. Civil war... most certainly. About power... absolutely. Did the US make a bad decision - I think so.

I do not know what TV station you are watching but Al Jazera would strongly suggest you are missing a big piece of reality. The dead woman and children in the streets were not killed by US soldiers. They were killed by people with bombs strapped to their bodies. You know who the Iraqi´s hate more than the US? Each other.

There is no room in Canada for your kind of hatred or your idea of justice.

Amid all the horrors in the world today, it would be nice to think that at least in this forum we could find some common ground and a reassurance that we are all in this together ("this" meaning not just our hopes of immigration, but life too, yes?). The recent spats of hostility and ugliness have made me reluctant to continue as an active member of this forum (a forum I love, by the way), yet somehow I keep coming back, trying to ignore posts by those I know to be ignorant and hostile. Thank you Starwars for posting this today; certainly this is something we all need to talk about, and certainly we can all be reminded to send our prayers and our positive energies to those in need.

I agree wannabecanadian, immigration and process is but one part of life. I hope it will be over for all of us soon, and then what?

While we wait and after the wait we cannot forget the very basic, this fabric of life that ties us all together. Ofcourse all of us will be sending material help for those in need, but now they need our prayers. Before you all go to eat meals today, just think of those in need...

that is all I ask...
