| Subject: visitors visa during PR application |
does anyone have experience with applying for a visitors visa while a formal PR Skilled Worker application is in process. My fiance desperately wants to come for a visit but we are not sure if we are wasting our money on an application. Hope you have good news for me.

I already phoned CIC about this question. I was told it is very rare that a visitor visa is given while a PRV is in process, because they are afraid the visitor will not leave the country when his visa will be expired and will stay illegaly in Canada. If you try, you will have to convince the officer that you will leave the country. Good luck.

I have a pending PRV application here in Manila and when I went to the US, I applied for a Canada tourist visa in New York office and was approved the same day. Read more about the Canada Immigration policy in "Dual intent". You will still be required to demonstrate sufficient ties to your current country of residence prior to the issuing of a temporary visitor´s visa by the Canadian visa office.

my husband is permanent resident and we got married few months ago, is it allowed or possible that she gets a visitor visa at first and file permanent residency upon inside Canada? hope you could enlighten us on this matter
