Dear all,
As a permanet resident, will I subject to Canada tax for the income I earned in overseas for running my own business or investment income from overseas investment?
For 2 out of 5yr to maintain permanent residency, is there any limitation that I need to stay out of Canada not more than 6 months each year?
If I decide to close out business and move to Canada for 3 yrs in order to get citizenship. Would I get disqualified if I cannot find a job within 3 yrs?

(in reply to: Tax Return for permanent residency) 1 - If you have residential ties with Canada, you will then be subject to Taxes. Ref to http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/ for what do ties mean.
2- No, you have to maintaine the 2 in 5 only. However, the officer at the port of entry do has the right to deny entry if he would feel that you were to long out of Canada for no accepted reason.
3- No, unemployment has nothing to do with citizenship.
Good lUck

(in reply to: Tax Return for permanent residency) please choose Canada because it is a place you wish to call home rather than a back up plan for medical or retirement. Please, please, please. There are thousands of people on this forum that wish to make a life in Canada and you are taking quota space. Please do not misuse the intent of Canada´s hospitality.

(in reply to: Tax Return for permanent residency) I agree with Sharon. Last year has seen a sudden influx of applicants who have no intent to make it to Canada.
Sharon, is there a talk in Canada to raise the points to restrict entry? This will be bad for low point scoring but genuine applicants.
