OK, now this is really frustrating....

Canada border security Agency lists that the turnaround time for a BG check is 45 days (median - most middle - not average). So I´d say it is exactly 90 days for the most complex case. 3months and CIC states 6-9 months. I mean what is the deal really?

If they donot want to accept those many cases in a year they should accept and close applications for a year, especially for skilled category - like H1B for USA.

We are wasting time, money (many will have to do medicals again for a family!!) resend all, and most have no idea for how long to renew the lease of apartments!! 6, 9 or 12 months??

I mean my apartment owners have come with a new rule of variable rates for 3, 6, 9, 12 months lease and a fine of 2 months for breaking it. What a #$%^& waste.

I think BG checks require cooperation from home countries. Not sure how CIC can force anyone to hurry or make promises. I agree, they need to figure out a different way to handle this phase of the application.

Then why do they ask for Police Certificates from home countries? I mean it took 10 weeks just ot get all those and the FBI records.

Really what a confusing and complex system this is.

On a second thought thanks Sharon for being there for all of us and making sense of situations which are totally frustrating.

Just that I´m so excited to finally make it..

we have been visiting the difference between police checks and background checks in many past threads.

I spoke with an immigration consultant (used to work for CIC) the other day and he mentioned the shocking volume of false education and employment documents. He also suggested that over half the spousal sponsorship applications are fraudulent.

Yes, it is frustrating. What should Canada do differently?

Thanks for the interest Sharon.

As I think I mentioned before, I totally agree for CIC to run the check. Infact they should to make the system fair.

However, my criticism is only for the way it is done.

Why don´t they do the background check before IA? I mean what is the use of medicals "AFTER" IA and then medicals again after BG check?

One solution is a verification of documents by third party (credible centers ofcourse - like the one for medicals). They could run down the educational certificates, verify your work refrences etc. while CIC is doing the administration part of the application.

Credible means - verified centers.

There are so many centers in third world countries which would take money to make up stuff.
