Subject: ?Katrina? an eye opener for the US

The events of the hurricane christened "Katrina" must be an eye opener to many. The slow response to help most victims of a population that consists of mainly black nationals demonstrates that America has not come of age to be called a democratic country. America claims to foster democracy in Iraq and trying to tell most African nations and the rest of the world how to rule themselves but if their response to the Katrina disaster is anything to go by, then the US Government should first clean their "house."

1.What do you guys think?
2.Do you agree with the above?

The best place to start for the US to "clean house" is to put a real, elected leader in the White House. If it wasn´t dead already, democracy died in the US the day Bush was declared president (probably the first time, and definitely the second).

Hey, the best place to start is on a DIFFERENT website.
Why are you taking up precious space, this has nothing to do with Canada immigration.

I don´t completely disagree with you. As it is a well-developed country, everybody asks for magic when a disaster like this strikes, afterall it is mother nature. I agree, they were definitely not well-prepared before the disaster struck, but they are doing enough at least afterwards.

Not boring to me, dude. This site should only serve it´s purpose and it´s doing very well without being cluttered up with other issues. There are plenty of them already that are immigration-related.

Why the hell are these guys wasting their time and showing their frustration to the whole forum if they "don´t care"?

A "shitty" life with beautiful dreams is much better than your life talking shit for no reason...

I do think that at the very least, choose a nom de plume so that we can differentiate you from other contributors.

Next, I will respond. I do agree with your statement. There has been much criticism of various levels of the American government because of its failure to correctly act in this crisis.

I have long maintained personally that the USA needs to significantly improve its own nation before it starts forcing other nations to become more "democratic" with the supposed benifits of American-style free-market/ hypercapitlalism. Forty million uninsured, how many more underinsured, underfunded public education, and a growing disparity between the haves and the have nots.

So, to answer your original question- Yes, I agree with the statement.
