Subject: company i worked for went bankrupt

Hi, I would appreciate any advice on this:

I worked for a company for 2 years (2001-2002) and quit. This was a family-owned company that unfortunately went bankrupt in 2003. Therefore, nobody from this firm will issue a reference letter for me. I don´t have much more experience to add, only a couple of part-time jobs up until now. Is it ok if I write about this situation in a letter to the consulate?
