  Hi Dennis Caul:

Firstly thank you for sharing your resources on this forum. I don?t know if I´m setting a right precedence on this forum by inviting you to help. We really are individual applicants helping each other. Until now we have kept any professional agency off this forum.

However, we have been doing also a lot of guess work.

We all are baffled by the Background check. We all know in generic terms what it is. To check if you are going to be a security threat to Canada and they verify your certificates, work experience etc.

My question is following. My medicals expire next month and CIC buffalo is still conducting a background check on me. I have had no reply whatsoever and it is getting really frustrating. I had originally planned to move hopefully in summer and now I don?t know when.

Please help us in identifying what it is and how long it takes. And as Sharon points, with as little commercialization as possible.

Thank you,

Hi Starwars.

Background checks, and the processes required to complete them, are protected from public knowledge under Canada´s Freedom of Information Act (or, in this case, the part of the FIA that restricts freedom...). Having said that, it´s my belief (based on experience) that lengthy, time-consuming clearances are not the fault of Canadian visa officers; but rather, the fault of government agents of other nations. Unfortunately, this is particularly true in the case of India and Pakistan (as well as others), where it seems that CIC officers are always waiting for the requested information a lot longer than they would if it were requested from the USA or UK...

As I am not really sure what your question was, but it is hoped that I´ve answered it.

Regards,
Dennis Caul

BTW - While my postings have fallen-off in recent months, please be aware that I was one of the first to ever significantly contribute to this forum. A simple check of archived postings will show that I have been particiapting on this forum since its inception, having been invited to do so by its creator/administrator, Oliver Lepki. So, while I may appear as commercial, that is the trade-off forum readers must endure if they want me to remain active, as this was the arrangement Oliver and I made years ago. And finally, please do not misinterpret this note as being hostile, arrogant, sarcastic, etc; I´m only mentioning these things so that others recognize where I am coming from (I really don´t want to get into an argument with anyone online - let´s keep this a happy, helpful place to meet:) )
