It seems mobile phone charges are pretty high in Canada, why so???. as the economy is growing and new technologies are coming up it should be more cheaper.thoguh there are many providers with diff packages it is still high i think.....

Canada can´t compete with the US in the mobile market. There´s a handful of providers, but not that many, really.

Canada also has a much smaller population and a greater land mass to cover. The infrastructure cost and charges to maintain the lines must figure into the long distance charges some how.

Fido would be my last choice. Telus (westcoast) or Bell are the bigger providers.

Cell phone costs - compared to where? compared to US... yes, they are more expensive for all the reasons listed. compared to other parts of the world - we are still cheap.

don´t forget a land line will cost you $30 per month.

yep!! my cell phone, 47 dollar/s everything included
From Bell, 100min daytime from 8:00am--8:00pm, after 8:00pm and Saturday Sunday unlimited incoming or local call. I have call display and voice mail.

Bell moblity includes 911, system access fee in their plan.
lot of kids try to use cell phone to show off, too many function not useful at all.like colour screen, camera.

for me, cell is just something i can reach people, my cell never rings, it´s so rude in public.

don´t buy from telus for god sake!
They outsource local job to India!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know how much telus gives to Indian? 25cent/hour.
Sweat shop.

After July Telus union workers are on strike, they put their technical support to India.

I don´t wanna when I have billing issues, on the other side, they are not Canadian to solve problems.

Freaking Yankee did this 10 years ago, terrible, when you phone AOL, all east Indian answering phone, am I in New Delhi or what?

Sorry if you are East Indian and make you feel offensive. You guys should pass words to India, tell them, unless you pay as min wage in Canada, don??t do it for the exact same duties!!!

Get real, Departure Bay !

Read your comment below:

Perhaps you have to wake up and realise that you live in
beautiful Nanaimo, BC whereas the average East Indian who
works for your "25 cents" doesn´t have enough to feed his/her family. Do you ever think what life must be like
for them back in India ? Not everyone is born with a silver
spoon. You take what you get. Deal with it.

This argument could go on and on, but any level-headed
person will tell you this is a non-starter. You´d have to
be born East Indian in that particular outsourcing town/city to appreciate what life is like. You don´t get the luxury of demanding what you want. Let´s see you go
up to your boss and speak your mind out about an increase!
After all, you work so hard, don´t you ?
