Subject: sponsorship processing- time (international)
I just have a quick question about processing times which I hope you might be able to help me with.
On http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times/process-in.html I see that the Sponsorship Applications for Spouses only take 31 days to process. We are in Switzerland and have a cut-and-dry case (hopefully :) Our "mission" were the medical stuff went to is in Paris.

I am wondering what is after those 31 days? Is our case then approved, moved on to to Paris? How long does the whole process take?

Greetings

Application processing times (in reply to: sponsorship processing- time (international))
Hi Martin

Sorry, but I am having some difficulties understanding your question. However, if you are asking how long a spousal sponsorship application takes to process, from begining to end, the answer is eight to twelve months (depending upon the quality of your application, and the workload of the visa officer who receives it).

Clarification (in reply to: sponsorship processing- time (international))
Hello Dennis

Thank you for your time. Well, I am Canadian and my Spouse is a Swiss Citizen (Paris Office). We sent our forms to CIC in Ontario mid January. By mid February we should receive "something" from them. But, do you know what?
- An access code to track our application to Paris, were they say it should take 5-6 months?
- Or will they send an invitation to "come on over" ???
- Something else?

Do we have to wait here for half a year? Can we go on over as tourists before then? I find it quite confusing as the CIC page only states how long their part of the process takes and also doesn´t say what actually happens after that time.

Greetings
Martin Sattler

Paris web site is a good source of info (in reply to: sponsorship processing- time (international))
Hi Martin.

Check out http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/canadaeuropa/france/visas/delais_canada-en.asp - it explains things nicely.

BTW: You are in a good position insofar as applying through Paris; they can be very amicable (as demonstrated by the extend of current information available online).

Sincerely,

hi , dennis, if only we knew that my son can only stay 6 mons in canada, then we wont let him ask for any extension that time i was so sick. however, we were given the extension and we thought it wont do any harm at all.
but upon return home to phil. we plan to request him to visit again this time, he was denied , we really felt so sad that this thing happened which we really dont expect. thank you for helping us.
regards,
leng
