Subject: IELTS-significance (Please Help)

I applied in Buffalo , Jan , AOR March , get 67 points if I claim all 16 in English. Have been living in USA for the past 6 years, very good at English, completed three credit courses from Harvard.

Got a letter from Consulate to take IELTS exam ,studied hard rather over studied, exam day, screwed up could not concentrate all all, here are the scores.

Reading 5, Listening 6, Wrting 7, Speaking 9

With the above can claim only 12 points for English, my score
now is 64..

What should I do now I have 120 days from July to submit the score, have not submitted it yet..
I made so many efforts to apply for Canada Immigration, police clearance etc, exp letters, even paid my landing fee in advance. Now, too scared to send the score in the anticipation of being rejected, what do I do now, I am very depressed, and it seems like the thing I cherised the most in live is slipping away from me....

Brian,
the really bad news is that you absolutely MUST have the IELTS. And after the consulate told you so, you have absolutely no other way. Try again, do your best. The second time will be a lot easier since you know what to expect, what to study, and HOW to study. Don´t worry, it´s gonna be ok. First time was hard, you had no idea what it is all about. You have three months ahead of you.

For the listening:

will help you a lot.

Don´t worry. Just go for it again! You will do good!!

Hi Brian,

I would send a letter to Buffalo to request more time and put application on hold. hopefully you don´t have to submit again..

yes IELTS can be tricky. it´s no walk in the park.
I did 10 practice tests stimulation and that helped a lot.
Also I listend to BBC everyday to get used to british english.

best of luck buddy..

I would also recommend listening to BBC everyday to get used to british accent.

Hi Brian,

The dream is still very much in your own hands. Just do
the IELTS test over again - it´s the safest bet.

Good luck,
Frozenshade

Brian,
Just take it easy. Think abt what will happen if you don´t get good band of scores the 2nd time around, and then be "comfortable" with it before you take the test so that when you take the test you are not thinking abt "what if.." situations and are concentrating on the task at hand.

Wish you the best !!

Thanks you guys a lot, I took the general track, the exam was not very difficult, but I screwed it up becuase I could not concentrate and was so much under pressure, as Raj has pointed out not sure how I will do in the second attempt, because how so ever hard I try I will somewhere down under think about the pressure and my last chance. I am in my seventh year on H1 in US , the greencard is a far cry so this is all I have.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

Don´t think about it as being your last chance...just think about giving it your best shot...think positive...you are good in English and that´s what you are going to prove here...don´t pressure yourself by thinking of a lot of things at the same time...you can do it...pray most importantly....goodluck
