Subject: CIC cares about age?
Anyboday knows about what age is withheld for immigration?

One of my friend,a independent, widow applicant over 45 years with master degree in USA wonders : is she too old (no kids company with) to apply for immigration to Canada?

Thanks,

Yes,

Immiration process considers the age factor. However, it has segments for that. So let here log to cic website and perform the self assesment test.

21 to 49 years: 10 points for immigration. Oldern than 49: The points decline, 2 points for every year

Age doesn´t matter as long as you can acquire the point requirement. This may mean having to learn French, increase work experience, education, etc. Age is just another factor that determines point accumulation.

Thank you very much , guys!

As a 45 years old single lady, age is not a factor that determines her case ,yes or no, right?

As far as I know, the final decision is made by the CIC officer. If the applicant has more than 67 points, the interview can be waived. If there are any doubts or questions, there will be an interview. The officer is allowed to accept applicants with less than 67 points in case that he thinks they will be successful in Canada. He also is allowed not to accept anybody he thinks that is not able to adapt in Canada well.
The interview also is taken in order to ensure the information given by the applicant is correct.

So, age is not a reason not to submit an application. What you have to prove is that you have the capability to adapt well in Canada and establish yourself in Canada. The point requirements are a means for CIC to assess this capability. Usually they rely on this points and in many cases, even the interviews are waived. The final decision depends on the responsible officer and the special circumstances, however.
