Subject: Permanent Resident (minus PR card) wants to travel
  Greetings!

I´m a permanent resident who´s applied for citizenship instead of a permanent resident card last year. A few weeks ago I was asked to provide my fingerprints which I have done, but I just learned yesterday that this process can take up to 12 months(!).

I would like to travel to the U.S. for a week in November. What are my options? I heard something about a temporary permit I could get, but I´ve been unable to find any info about it via CIC or DFAIT. Does such a permit exist? Anything else I could do?

Because of the possible 12-month delay, I´ve decided to also apply for a PR card (turn-around is 16 weeks, they say) in parallel with my citizenship application, but that won´t happen in time for November of course.

Thanks.

Mark.
