Subject: US Police Clearance
I learned from the Canadian Embassy in Washington,DC webpage that FBI Finger Printing form must be used in order to apply for Police Clearance Certificate and that when filled up and completed, this should be sent to FBI with the $18.00 processing fee. Althought it said that the form can be requested by mail, it did not say whether a fee is also required so they can send the blank form back to the requesting party who may be out of the US territory. I have already done my fingerprinting with the local police but using the local form as well. I am apprehensive to send it to FBI with my money as this may be rejected. Please advise.

Hi,

I wrote FBI and requested for that form. They replied together with the form but never indicated that you should use their (FBI) fingerprint form to obtain clearance from them. When I verified again the Embassy´s instruction (in their letter to me), it also did not indicate that my fingerprint be taken using the FBI form. Here´s an excerpt of the advice:

"To obtain the FBI certificate you will need to contact the FBI at the address shown below with your full name, place and date of birth, places and period or residence in USA along with a full set of fingerprints, taken and certified by a recognized and official police or law enforcement agency where you presently resides...... your request must include your signature and the fee of US$18.00 payable to the US Treasure Department.

So, I did not use the FBI fingerprint form. I hope the FBI would not reject my request as I am following instructions only. I´ll post in this forum whatever development that I may have reqarding my FBI request.

Fingerprint card (in reply to: US Police Clearance)
I have read your discussion. I think you are right about the procedure as far as I know. I am trying to get PCC too but I ma having problem getting the fingerprint card. Could you please advise me since you have gone through that procedure yet.
When I called local police department and told me that I need to get a fingerprint card form Canadian Immigration purposes, they told me that I need to get a card from Canadian Embassy and then they will fingerprint me. How did you do it? What did you tell them you need fingerprints for?

Thank you very much

hello dmitry,

your local police or your national police should have the fingerprint form, the candian embassy do not have it. i think, any country´s local or national police do have that form. perhaps your local police did not understand your request, perhaps go to your national police. in my case, i got 2 forms from a local police station, where my fingerprint was also taken. i sent them to the california dept of justice and S.African police for background check. The other form, which i sent to fbi, was taken from our national bureau of investigaton (it´s fbi´s equivalent in my country). right now i´m waiting for their response.

FBI Fringerprint Form (in reply to: US Police Clearance)
Hi there

Dude same problem with everyone, me too facing the same problem. I got my fingerprints from the Fingerprint expert on a Indian fingerprints form. The expert said that he has done the same for someone else earlier for Canadian Immigration purpose and that person got the FBI clearance done (Lucky guy...!!!!). They have some special ink for the fingerprints and Form should be attested by the Expert with his Name, Designation and address on the form, with a certified check (Demand Draft) for US $18 payable to US Treasury.
Any information needed on this issue do write back

all the best

The local police form could be sent to the FBI, they will accept it. FBI will return it to you with NO RECORDS stamped on it.

But canadian immigration says they want the fingerprints on FBI form. It is specifically said in the instructions.
I guess to be on the safe side better to use FBI form.

Police clearance (in reply to: US Police Clearance)
I have studied in a small up north town in California for 2 years and left the states 3 years ago.

Can I apply for US police clearance in any city or states in USA or I have to go back to the local police station in the small town where I lived to apply for it?

Thanks for advice
