| Subject: stupid question on temp v |
hi,
i cant remember but,
if you drive to the US/CAN border you can right there get a visa.. now was that to just get a visitor visa right away,, or can you also do that for a work visa..? I need to find a way to get a work visa.

Under NAFTA, GATTS and some other agreements, citizens of certain nations can get a work permit at the US/CAN border, but for certain types of work only (e.g., work that is HRSDC confirmation exempt). However, in most cases, arrangements for work permits must be made in advance.
Conversely, those countries´ citizens who are exempt from requiring a "formal visitor visa" (a.k.a. "Temporary Resident Visa") may enter Canada at a US POE with pre-applying.
