Subject: To Dennis Caul: Settlement Fund questions
Hi, I have some questions about legit sources of settlement funds that I know you have wide knowledge about:

1. Should settlement funds only come from savings over the years or can it also come from genuine gifts from relatives?

2. Have you heard of a case being disapproved due to settlement fund issues?

3. Is there a clear cut CIC policy about settlement fund sources?

Thank you very much.

CIC has no problem with reagrd to the source of the funds. You have to proof having in your account enough funds. Thats all.

Sorry, but that´s not accurate. CIC does care where the funds come from, and will question applicants if there seems to be discrepancies between what they earn and what they´ve saved (e.g., a 24 yr old with $10,000.00 in the bank, who has been working for 4 years at an income of $3,000.00 per year, is very likely to be questioned as to where the money came from - keep in mind that illegal sources of income will be seen as a reason for refusal)

Of course, cases are refused for insufficient settlement funds, as all SW applicants (except those with arranged employment) must have sufficient settlement funds.

Also, if you are claiming that you were given money from a relative, CIC will carefully scrutinize this claim, as it is often used to hide the fact that the money is actually a loan (i.e., encumbered).

Please be very cautious in these matters - I would hate to read a future posting from you that describes your refusal as related to incorrect information received herein.

Hello Dennis
it is a very long time since we spoke, hope Tracey and all the kids are doing well.

I have a question for you.
I need 4x (IMM 5455) do you keep a supply of them.
I called the immigration line and they said it can take from 30-60 days before I get these forms as there is a problem with the mail over in the east.
