(in reply to: AMERICAN CITIZEN ENTERING CANADA AS IMMIGRANT) I think she is eligible for dual citizenship. In that case I donot see any disadv. However, she will be having many advantages like living , studying or working in US, inaddition to enjoying benefits like free health care by canada

(in reply to: AMERICAN CITIZEN ENTERING CANADA AS IMMIGRANT) Both Canada and the U.S. recognize dual citizenship. She can have both and carry both a U.S. and Canada passport. I have 6 children that enjoy the dual status.

(in reply to: AMERICAN CITIZEN ENTERING CANADA AS IMMIGRANT) one possible down side is the US taxes its citizens on their worldwide income, whether or not the citizen is living in the US -- but the US does have a bilateral tax treaty with Canada to prevent double taxation. Still, extra paperwork will be involved since your daughter will eventually have to file US tax returns in every year she earns income.
that´s probably a small price to pay for US citizenship

(in reply to: AMERICAN CITIZEN ENTERING CANADA AS IMMIGRANT) Both countries do recognize dual citizenship. I have heard of people, children, who supposedly have to "decide" on one or the other at the age of eighteen. However, that may be referring to people with American citizenship and other (not Canadian).
