My passport has been requested by immigration canada. My medicals will expire in February and I know I have to land before then. My question is can I land in Quebec and start the process for getting my health card (since it will take 3 months) and then go back to the US and get my affairs in order before officially moving? If I move in February it will cost us alot more money than if I wait a few more months. Thanks for any help you can give me.

first congrats, and could you please let us know about your category and exact date of your PPR?
you can land in Quebec only if you have the selection certificate CSQ, otherwise don´t try it, though you can land elsewhere and move to Quebec after landing, you can start the process of obtaining health card if you settle in Canada and have a home address, does not matter if you go back to US for a visit.
if it helps some provinces will grant you health services from day one, Quebec is not among them.

I applied conjugal partner and they requsted my passport on Sept 28, 2005. We applied May 2005. My other issue is car insurance. I have an address since my partner lives here but do I have to go ahead and pay for car insurance even if I am not here? Drivers license?
