I am new to this forum but i am a bit confused about the general canada immigration stuff. We got Married last year 5th of may in my country and my wife went back to canada she was studying so money was tight and it took us like 10 months before we applied but we were lucky misissaauga approved our sponsorship application in a day.Application was sent to Accra and they recieved it and e status showed they got it on the 29th of june . Due the pressure involved my wife forgot to include passphotos and missisauga adviced us to send it to the visa office which is Accra,we did that and contacted them almost 2 months later via email and they said application was on and it was at the desk of an officer that is determining if i need an interview or not.And owing to the fact that it took us 10 months to apply medical test expired by the time my application arrived the visa office and we asked ,when we contacted them asking if i should do another medical test they said no i should hold on and they will advice me on what to do in the future.Well i m here havent seen my wife in more than a year we didnt even have any honeymoon or nothing of that nature cos she had to go back to canada and graduate. My question is how long does it take them to deermine if i need an interview or not ? and does anybody know how long this whole process will take ? 29th of this month will make it 3 months that my application is process at the visa office plus i am wondering whats going to happen to the medical test will i have to do another one ? if yes will that delay my application more? please help i am loosing it.

Its highly likely they will contact you very soon for more evidence that you are maintaining relationship with your wife since marriage. I advise you to keep all the phone, email, chat or any other communication records. The absense of honeymoon might bring some confusion to cic. Although for personal and financial reasons your wife left to canada after marriage, but CIC gives it priority to stay together as much as posssible ignoring personal conveinience to assess the genuinity of the relation.
Furthermore I have seen many cases in Immigration Appeal division where after marrigae the sponsor left the applicants country for urgent reason and due to lack of cohabiting period cic refused the application. However in the IAD cic´s decision was set aside by proving that they are genuine couple.

Best of luck.

Ter,the time average time for spousal applicaiton in Ghana is 18 months with the shortest time being 13months and the longest being 30 months. Your application time can range anywhere in between and medical results are only valid for 1 year. They did not tell you to redo the medical because the results may expire again before your are grant PR status and you might have to do a third medical.

Have you tried getting a visitor´s visa. If you are denied a visa. Your wife can at least approach her MP for help, as spousal processing time in Ghana is currently the longest.

Thank you very much Katrina thats what it says on the web site too and if its 13 months then i think i can be pateint for that long .My wife will be visiting me for exmas too so i will think about the visitor visa thing maybe around april next years then i will be more than half way thourgh the 13 months.Accra is a visa office that is handling immigration for more than 5 coutries in the west african region and the number of applications they are getting is overwhelming and that explains the amount of time its taking them to process the application.Plus i am looking at the positive side of things ,this application has made our relationship stronger and we have taked more and gotten to understand eachother better. The rest will come its just a question of time, patience ,determination and not giving up.
