hi people:
i had applied for my student visa extension on 14 september 2005 (my visa expires on 29 october). hwo do i ck the status of my application. I had shown proof of about 8000 dollars in my account and the first semester fees had already been paid. as the time is getting nearer i m getting jittery. Please provide some information. i can never get thru to the call centre agents on teh cic.gc.ca toll free number. Please Please Please help...........

I Stephen. Dont worry, as long as you applied for your extension 30 days before your visa expires you´re in the clear, and in your case you have. These extensions sometimes take upto 2 months, so just relax. You´re doing nothing wrong even if you dont hear from them after Oct 29th. You can continue to study and you´ll get your visa in a few more weeks.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply- Candice. Finally will be able to sleep well at night.
I had shown enough funds and stuff so I dont think i woudl be rejected but then its always a possibility so I was worried. One more question, if you don´t mind... If my visa is rejected (i.e. if i dont get extension) what are my options? And is there a way to ck the status of my application?

Hi Stephen.
Don´t worry too much, as you applied well before the last thirty days of your visa; so even if CIC doesn´t get back to you before the 29th (which they probably will), you will have "deemed status" until a decision is made.

I dont think your application is going to get rejected, if you gave them everything that they asked for. You can check the status of your application by calling the cic call centre. Try calling first thing in the morning or towards the end of the week. I used to dial the number and keep hitting redial to get through. You will get through eventually. It just takes time and patience.
