Hi Sahil:
You will need to obtain a Positive Labour Market Opinion. A positive LMO is one requirement that Citizenship and Immigration Canada considers when deciding to issue a work permit allowing the person to work in Canada. At the same time, a positive LMO, the work permit, and your permanent job offer also strengthen the worker´s application for permanent residency to Canada.

For more information on this and application procedures please check out the following website.
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/epb/lmd/fw/poWorkPerm.shtml

Dont forget to find out what your NOC Code is (National Occupational Classification I think). You´ll find this on the same url as above. Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Hi Sahil: No problem, we´re all here to help eachother. See, I´m not 100% sure how this works because I dont know what type of work permit you are currently on. Are you on a post-grad work permit? If you are, then I think you should go ahead asap and apply for your HRSDC approval. Please contact them first though to confirm, and ask them what is the best way to proceed with your case. I dont want to give you any wrong advice.

HRSDC - Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Here is a list of Foreign Worker Offices you can contact for more information, depending on where you currently reside.

The work permit with HRDC is much more complicated than a post grad work permit. I suggest you get a lawyer to take care of everything.
