  Mountains,
I have read your many posts and I wish you luck in your pursuits.
I have some questions. You say that you are not able to find a job now but what difference does it make whether you ahve a PR or not. Does the job hunt become easier when you get a PR.
In which discipline is your degree? DId you complete masters degree? Why is it so hard for a person who graduated from a Canadian Univ to find a job in Canada? Do you have experience? Doesnt Canada have a work permit program similar to H1B in the USA. Then you can apply for a work permit after getting a job, right.

Sorry for the personal questions but I am trying to understand the situation in Canada.
Thanks
A

It is 1000% times harder to get a job in Canada than in USA. You gotta keep in mind that if you are planning to come to Canada.

Hi A,

Thanks for the wishes.

When I attended the Post-graduate employment program (students who graduate from Canadian Uny are given a chance to work in Canada for one year under this program provided we get a job in 90 days after graduation), the International student´s office supervisor told if the company knows that if I am an international student, then employers thinking is they can get the job done in less amount of money, she said I have better chances under this program than a Canadian PR. But unfortunately, I haven´t got a job because may be I haven´t be lucky enough, or I didn´t have a good network, or I don´t have a good experience. I don´t know why it is wrong in my case, but lot of my friends have got at least a job but not a super company. But it definitely takes time to get a job. US is definitely far far better than Canada there is no doubt about that man.

So far as per my experience with applying for companies, I haven´t told whether I am a Canadian PR or International, so it is not a question at all that since I am international I didn´t get a job.

Yes, I finished my Master´s degree.

To get a job in Canada for international worker is more difficult, because one must prove that there is no any other person with Canada PR or citizenship which can do the work better or at the same level (that´s a policy).

I agree to all of youll. My 2 cents: Yes, now we are talking about 2 types of companies. Small scale and large scale industry. The small ones exploit PG´s, but at the same time they tend to give you a job offer soon. They dont even mind losing you after 1 year. Big large scale companies recurit PRs because of company policies, advance expensive training etc etc. The dont want to spend thousands on you, and see you leave as you dont have PR.

And moreover, these days international students find it tough to get even one year work permits after course as many many PRs apply to these companies anyway.

Most of us find jobs a coffee shops on campus etc etc, very lucky if you can get a full paid TA for one term. And all work permit holders are exploited, misused and abused. They know you cant leave, as you have no options, but youd work anyways as there is rent and bills to pay.

Canadain provinces effectively market the " we need skilled professional with canadian degrees" but at the same time HRDC approval is almost impossible even after canadian PG programs.

I am not trying to be negative there but throwing light about whats happening for real. End of the day PR is important, we cant have it any better way.
