Subject: Relocatiing while appln is pending...
Hi there,
I currently reside in US. I need to relocate to India in about 1.5 years (unless canadian immig is approved). If I apply now and the whole process is not completed in 1.5 years, how will it impact me if I request a change of address (US to India)? Please let me know.
thanks

If you are required to have an interview in the US, you have to make sure that you will be able to get a visa to come to the US for your interview.

In the case that you start processing your application in the US and you are unable to attend an interview, they will transfer you file to India and you the new immigration officer will start accessing you file all over again. You will back to the beginning of the queue.

In short if you are submitting a SW application it will require more than 1.5 years to complete. If there is a chance that you will not have a visa to return to the US then you will have to try applying from India, it at all possible.

You can take a chance by applying within US. If you interviewed is waived, you will knwo in about a year´s time. The whole process currently is taking over a year..so its your call.

You guys have indicated that it takes about 1.5 years. But according to the link below, it is supposed to take a loooooooong time. What do you guys think...
