  Greetings!

I´m new to the posting board community, but now that I´m (only) 5 months into the waiting game, I thought it´d be good to get an idea what real people are going through. (Applying for my Fed Skilled Worker through Buffalo. App sent 4/05. AOR 5/05.) These are probably annoying questions, but I just can´t seem to find the answers:

Would someone be so kind as to tell me what many of these abbreviations are? I figured out AOR, but many of the rest confuse me.

Does emailing Buffalo really get you any information? More importantly, does it annoy them?

Is it really worth getting CAIPS notes so early in the game?

What are abbeviations that confise you? It is too early to send an email to buffalo for status. And I feel that you should wait to apply for CAIPS.

Thanks for the advice! Of course now I´ve completely blanked on the abbreviations. I know IA was one of them... there was another one with 5 letters... ugh, so sorry. *embarrassed look*

IA - initial assessment
COPR - Confirmation of perm res
ROLF - right of landing fee, now something like RPRblah
AIP - approval in principle for inland applicants only
AOR and CAIPS - not sure what they stand for but you clearly know what it means as you stated you´ve got one/want to get one (far too early, in my humble opinion). :-)

Can´t think what the 5 letter one would be but you might want to try the Canadian Immigration forum at britishexpats.com/forum to meet more people in your situation.

Emailing CIC isn´t advised as it´s stated on the website and on your AOR...to not contact them. You have to realize, the more they spend answering emails, the less time they work on applications. But, I did snail mail them once about an update to my application (I moved and the damn post office lost all my change of adress mail, and at the time I was/still am expecting PPR) and they did respond.

As for ordering CAIPS before IA, its really useless.
