Subject: Time counting toward Citizenship... |

Hello, i`m new here and hoping for some help.
I have a job offer driving a truck from Canada to the USA and back on a weekly basis, a few points, if i`m in Canada on PR visa-
1- do the days spent in the US count toward days needed before applying for Canadian Citizenship?
2-How would this be viewed regarding the need to spend 2 years in 5 as a Canadian resident?
3-As a UK citizen with Canadian PR, how would i be classed when crossing the CAN/US border( thinking of need for visa)
I hope this all makes sense, and any help would be greatly appreciated..............billy

(in reply to: Time counting toward Citizenship...) days spent in another country don´t count, but again that depends how long you are outside Canada.

It is up to a judge to decide (in reply to: Time counting toward Citizenship...) Hi Billy.
Typically, days spent outside of the country are not counted towards your time required for citizenship, but when making your application, a citizenship judge (the person who receives the application) may allow a percentage of your time in the US to count, given the nature of your work (truck driver).
My advice would be to try as soon as reasonably possible, and let the judge decide. If unfavourable, you´ve lost nothing, outside of a couple hundred dollars.
Good luck.
Sincerely,
