i´m thinking about requesting that my file be transferred to the office closer to my home country as i will be leaving the US and really don´t want to come back for an interview (and i would have to get a tourist visa anyway). according to CIC website, that visa office has processing times shorter than buffalo but i don´t know how accurate they are.

Hey degen. It may have shorter processing times but it will take you longer to get it transferred to the new visa post. Thats what I understand from the experiences of other people on this forum. It´s a long drawn-out process. However if you are leaving the US and might have touble getting a visitor visa for the interview, it might be best to get it transferred. Just realise that it wont necessarily make your wait any shorter.

As JC asked earlier, what time-frame did they give you in your AOR? Mine said 36 weeks.

candice,

i know overall the process will not be much shorter and it will take a while for them to decide whether or not "the integrity of the process" will be affected by the transfer. the thing is, the US embassy is always so unpredictable when it comes to them granting visas so i´m not sure if i can take that chance.

DB,

i am pretty sure my AOR letter said "you can expect further communication from us within the next 52 weeks". i think it might have to do with your profession and/or intended destination..or maybe not, who knows.
