Subject: Help please urgent
I have changed my address to a new place and notified CIC buffalo of the change by fax and mail about 3 weeks ago, but e-client has not changed at all and shows old address. CIC is issuing out IA´s for people who applied in Oct 2004 last year. I dont have access to my old address mail at all. What will happen if I dont receive my IA to my new address? there is no way I can get mail from old address if IA is sent out there. Is my application gone forever or put to rest or is there anyway to bail myself out even if my IA is lost?? Please help..

I am sure they have the information but can you arrange mail forwarding at your local post office. It only costs a few dollars a month but it might buy you some peace of mind.

Thanks Sharon, I have another question for you, yes thats doable mail forwarding, but this raises another question what if they already have sent it to my old address, and the IA is lost forever (whoever is at my old address i have no contact with if he trashes the IA) then how do I or can I solve this problem..any suggestions..

Get your CAIPS and look under the SELDEC. That will tell you the date your IA was issued. If its significantly in the past and you have not gotten your IA, then contact the Visa post for a duplicate.

Definitely set up the mail forwarding as recommended by Sharon....who wont?

we are talking about a 3 week window- from the time you moved until now so the time period in question is reasonably small. we do not know when they are issuing IA. you are only guessing so you might be concerned over absolutely nothing. We know however, that e-client is notoriously slow in changing their information. Do not rely on it to show the new address right away.

Here is what I would do... fax Buffalo with your concern and then hang tight for a little bit. They might offer you a note that answers your questions. Contrary to popular belief... they are not totally heartless. I would also attempt to contact the people at your old address- you never know... they might be friendly and reassure you that nothing has arrived.

I will not say that there is no reason for concern because we have personally lived this nightmare. The outcome was not particularly good so make sure you get to the post office and get the mail redirected immediately.
