Subject: initial query
Hi! all. I have just completed my MA degree in the USA. Before I worked for over six years in an international organization.I am just trying to get hold of things re immigrating to Canada. I am totally oblivion of things as much as one can get. My first dilemma is a reliable agent out of upteenth in the web. Can you recommend a few out of your experience (1).I am going back to Nepal in December from where I would apply (in Jan 06) while my wife will stay back in the US for next six months. Will it be a negative thing for my application if we stay in two different places (2)? I don´t have a relative in Canada, neither I have offer for an employment. Can the agents really help find a job or produce an offer letter as they claim (or rather "suggest")(3)? I would appreciate your response.

why not consider doing your own application? there is nothing difficult about it. just requires some patience and attention to detail.

I would stay away from claims of job offers. I have yet to hear of any that have materialized.

there is lots of helpful information (FAQ etc) on the cic.gc.ca website and many folks around here will be more than happy to chime in when needed.

1) The Canadian immigration process is simple and you can very easily do it on your own. If you still want to hire someone to help you out then I will recommend that you hire a lawyer rather than a consultant.

Please visit the following link to get more information about Who May Represent You:

2) No it will not effect your application if you and your wife live in different countries.

3) I sincerely doubt your agent´s claim but nothing is impossible. Is your agent charging you extra money to "produce" the job offer letter?

ROHIT

Rohit, Both of them (Sharon and Kenny) are right. It is a very simple process as long as you have all required documents. Both of them are very knowledgeable about CA immigration and very helpful. These are the people to trust.

"NEPAL" Where are you in USA? Please pass me your e-mail; I will share some ideas and knowledge.

Good luck.
Nameste

Thanks Sharon, Kenny, and Nameste (?). At least your responses have me thinking about doing it on my own. I will be in touch once I start to get going. Wish you guys good luck!!

Nemeste:

Your name sounds both strange and familiar. About me, I am here for two years and just moved to VA (around DC) from MA. I will love to be in touch. Best.
