Subject: Immigration Application
i am intending to apply for immigration but i have two questions
1-i have graduated as a civil engineer two years ago and in the last two years of my study i as working a part time engineer till now thats 4 years part time (about 20 a week ) can these years be calculated in my application or only the two years after i graduated and earn the tile of "Civil Engineer"

2- my seond question is that i have studied French in my high school and eversence i have maintained my langauge skills as let`s say in the second or the third level i can read a paper in french withno trouble but i have great trouble in spoken wrod so i planned ot take the tef to proof my ablity to read frnch easy and effectivly but when i went to book the test they told me that no body can take the evaluation test unless you passed the 8th level? what is that ? who said that i need to be fluent in french to take the test ? so i did not take it and i guess i will apply with supporting document caiming basic Ability in french and i just need to know what should be the supporting documents like? and is the estemaed level as fourth of twelve level enough as a basic level?
thanks

I cannot speak about the work experience because I do not know - sorry. But language... you must choose your strongest language, english or french and try to get as close to 16 points as possible. If your home country does not use one of these languages for education or commerce, you would be well advised to take the suggested testing. You must prove your level of expertise... or they will guess and that is not to your advantage. Proficiency in our 2 languages is almost 25% of the qualification to immigrate. I would do everything you can to get your scores as high as possible and verified.

Hi,
It sounds so strange that you were not allowed to take the French test... theoretically, ANYBODY who wishes to take it should be able to apply. I took it and no one ever told me to show my current level or evidence of having studied it. Perhaps you should send a message (explaining what they told you) to the head office of "Chambre de Commerce et d´Industrie de Paris", the entity that administers the test.
Hope this helps...

It is best for you to consult your case to an immigration adviser because in the first place you are not even so sure on much score do you get for your work experience plus your score problem in french proficiency. If I were you, forget about french. Look for other other factors that could add up points to your application such as more years of fulltime work experience. To avoid frustration, don´t submit your application "half-cooked".
