Hello. I am a student in Canada with my PR application in progress. This year I am a part-time student but got a job on campus without realising that you have to be full-time to be able to work. I worked for 6 months without realising this. What do I do? Im really stressed out about this. Can anybody please suggest what do I do about this? I applied for PR at the end of last year. Should I contact someone and tell them that I did this without realising that it was wrong? Please help :(

(in reply to: Hello. I am a student in Canada with my PR ap...) Why don´t you ask your Univ´s registrar´s office if they can amend your registration? (They should be able to if you explain that the only reason you filed for part-time registration is because of oversight. If you´re a gradute student, your graduate studies officer - or whatever you call the person in charge of grad students there - should have noticed that immediately and informed you.) If they say yes, they you can pay the additional registration fees so that you can be declared as a full-time student during those past 6 months.

Hello stressed! (in reply to: Hello. I am a student in Canada with my PR ap...) Hey Stressed!
I intend to study french is quebec for more than six months but as a part time student. Do part time students qualify for a student visa in Canada? I could find no information on this anywhere.

(in reply to: Hello. I am a student in Canada with my PR ap...) Thank you for your kind reply Maru. I dont think the option is possible though in my case. It is almost mid-year and there is no way I can register for full-time studies. Even if I pay the full-time fees, that does not mean that the Uni will change my T4A to show I am full-time (which declares if you were full/part-time student). That would be lying. I could go talk to them I suppose, I´m just scared :(
Hi apricot, you can go to school part-time however the usual speech anyone will give you is that "it is recommended you do full-time." It is perfectly legal to be a part-time student. You are just not allowed to work on campus unless you are a full-time student. I found that out a little too late.
