Subject: Background Check
  Hi Guys,

Any idea if background checks are conducted with respect to marriages ie if I submit a valid marriage certificate with photos, invitation cards etc will that be sufficient or does CIC check with the relevant marriage registrant about the validity of the certificate? Do they contact people known to the applicant viz. neighbours, employers etc to check the genuiness of the marriage?

Any input would be appreciated

Many Thanks

I doubt your marriage was genuine - if not, why are you scared after providing so much of evidence.

I just submitted a photocopy of my marriage certificate & they never asked for.

Anon, to support your claim you can get letters from your family members and friends that will attest to your relationship.

I know how you feel about the evidence, we can never tell what is enough. Both you and your spouse should consider writing detailed letters to CIC about your relationship. How it started and progressed. The stories will be the same, but it will be from each spouses point of view. My husband wrote a letter and I wrote one, we did not read each other letters, because the story was the same just told from a different point of view.

Good Luck and I hope everything works out okay for you and your spouse.

Trust me more paper you send, more curiosity they get. If you think that merried certificate is real. you can just send the copy. - no more questions asked -
I did send my copy of merried certificated. and they´ve never asked any more paper. at the end, I got interview waived.
