hi everybody,
i applied in buffalo on aug 5th 2005 , and send them the fbi clearance (fingerprint card ) and the clearance from all the countries i have been living for more than 6 months for he past 10 years( as asked by cic). They asked me to take english test and I replied in a detailed letter that i had my master s degre in the us and was working with english speaking companies in the states and so forth ... no answer yet.I received AOR in september.
Now i read on this forum about background check, and my question is : did you guys send the clearance form from your respective native country and they still do the background check or you didn t and they have to do it now ? If so why didn t you send the background clearance from your home country with your application ( i asked mine from friends and family and it took like 15 days )?
I also read about the delays from buffalo and wonder if people applying from the us have more luck than other to get it done in less time than other places : since year 2002 i have 2 friends that applied from Newyork and their time line was like 6to9 month; the first one had an h1b visa in the states the second one was just finishing his master s degree and got married while waiting so there was some delays due to more paperwork but it was still 9 month.
As i applied from Newyork i hope i will have th same timeline as they did .
good luck to all
mikoman

(in reply to: background check,) mikoman,
Background check has 3 parts to it. FBI, PCC are only 1 part of that. A seperate check is done by equivalant of FBI in Canada - which CIC has no control of. It is this part which may take from 6 months - 1 year usually. It may even take longer, but CIC mantains that time frame.
Unfortunately, as our experience on this forum BG checks may vary from candidate to candidate.
