CIC is not allowed to give personal information in response to email inquiries. It violates all access to information and privacy rules. There is no way to verify the source or sender of the email... therefore you should not expect an answer.

Arthur,

As your file was transfered to Detroit you have to send an inquiry about your status to Detroit. Buffalo will not have any information regarding your case.

The following text is taken from the website of Canadian consulate in Detroit:

Any requests regarding status of a Visa Application; Visitor or Permanent Resident, MUST be submitted in writing - either by Letter of by Fax. Please sign your request and include your full name, date of birth and file reference number.

Security rules (Privacy Act)mandate that E-mail requests will NOT be answered, nor will requests made over the telephone.

Since you have been interviewed already, that means you already met the officer handling your case. You can always communicate with her/him. Write a polite letter asking about your status. Direct your letter to the officer who interviewed you. When I was interviewed, the officer gave me her business card and told me that I can communicate with her directly....goodluck

listen to me dudes, CIC just replied general answers, not individual cases, for example let´s say there are people IA from June05----Nov 05, CIC will give the same answer to everybody in this category, instead of your own cases

Well that is why they had asked for an email on contact information when the forms are filled.

CIC "Does" reply to email, if this is the same email address you mentioned on the form.

I have got a reply from CIC in three days - they are good about replies when writing to them.
