Subject: Sir Hector Macdonald
Thank you Suzanne. My own father´s middle names were Hector Macdonald, something of which he was extremely proud all his life. I find that in ´Death Before Dishonour´ Hector is described as being the seventh son. I have some information on Donald, Ewan, John and William. Does anyone out there know anything about the other two? Was there a sister?

General Sir Hector Macdonald-Fighting Mac (in reply to: Sir Hector Macdonald)
Lorna,
I started off by asking if anyone knew of Alex MacDonald living in Canada whose niece Margot Bowman from Erskine, Scotland represented him at a 2007 memorial service in Edinburgh, Scotland, as the only known living relative of the late General Sir Hector Archibold MacDonald.
I am very pleased with the responses so far as it appears that there are other living distant relatives, myself being one of them.
Would dearly love to connect everyone in one big family tree,George H MacDonald can you help any further?
Jean Bell.

Relatives of Sir Hector MacDonald (in reply to: Sir Hector Macdonald)
In response to Jean Bell´s posting of 17.08.2008 I may have some information. My Grandmother and her sister Madelina/Madeline Boyd(spelling was variable),were cousins of Sir Hector. Madeline married an Alex MacDonald. They lived in Montreal,Canada. I have a marriage notice, cut from a newspaper, which unfortunately has no date and gives place of marriage as ´in this city´. Since I have found no record of the marriage in Scotland, I believe they were married in Canada. Madeline appears to have been in Canada in 1932, when she was named as a beneficiary in her brother´s Will. Could there be a link here?
